Acupuncture and fertility have been very much in the news for the past couple of years. It seems to have grown in popularity as a method pf preparing the body for conception, increasing the success of IVF and helping to cope with morning sickness and even initiating labour!
Local registered acupuncturist and osteopath, Paul Clusker, has dealt with all of these eventualities in his Walsall and Sutton Coldfield clinics.
Paul Says “We first started to notice an increase in enquiries after the publication of research which showed that acupuncture on the day of egg transfer increased the chances of IVF significantly.”
But Paul points out that he has been working with pregnant mum’s for the past twenty five years alongside the routine work of the clinic.
One patient was a week overdue for the delivery of her second baby and not wanting to be induced, asked Paul if he could treat her to stimulate childbirth. Her second child was safely delivered to a delighted mum within 24hours.
Another 32year old woman came to Paul for help with her daily nausea and vomiting. Coping with working as a nurse, caring for a young child at home, being pregnant and sick every day was making life miserable. To her delight the sickness was controlled by weekly visits for acupuncture with Paul Clusker and her baby was safely delivered in January.
Local teacher Michelle has been having acupuncture before starting on IVF, during the first course of treatment and on the day when the fertilised egg is transferred back into the patient. To her delight Michelle was scanned and found to be carrying twins!
