Swedes show acupuncture can help with a leading cause of infertility
Date: 06 August 2009

Women suffering from polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) will be pleased with new research that acupuncture treatments can reduce their symptoms.

PCOS affects 10% of women of reproductive age. The condition is linked to irregular periods. It is one of the leading causes of infertility in women.

Swedish researchers have found that acupuncture treatments in PCOS sufferers led to more regular periods, reduced testosterone levels and smaller waist size.

Symptoms: Sufferers have some or all of the following:

• Absent periods.

• Increased body hair.

• Acne.

• Infertility.

• Weight problems.

• Miscarriage.

Local registered acupuncturist and osteopath, Paul Clusker, supports these findings. He uses acupuncture to treat both PCOS and infertility in his Walsall and Sutton Coldfield clinics.
