Joyce Brown took up running as a senior citizen and could be seen training and assisting with the training of young runners at the elite club Birchfield Harriers.
However, in 2007 Joyce had an injury which despite help from her GP and physiotherapist didn’t get better. In fact, the advice this seasoned runner was given was “what can you expect, now you’re getting older it’s time to stop running”.
With nowhere to turn for help Joyce felt that her running days were indeed over. After six months she could walk with discomfort, but jogging was out of the question.
Having almost given up Joyce thought she had nothing to lose by trying to help herself and that’s when she called the Backcare & Acupuncture Clinics in Walsall and Sutton Coldfield.
After just two sessions of acupuncture with local acupuncturist Paul Clusker, she felt an immediate improvement, and after further treatment with Paul’s colleague, Reregistered Osteopath Clare McClure, Joyce has returned to regular training and tells us she can now run for 75 minutes without pain or discomfort.
Joyce says “I was beginning to despair that I’d ever be able to get back to my running. I wasn’t getting any answers before I came along to the Backcare & Acupuncture Clinic and had the acupuncture and osteopathic treatment. I only wish I’d come earlier!”
