Treatment
Musculo-skeletal conditions

These conditions respond well to both osteopathy and acupuncture. Patient choice dictates whether we use either or (more likely) both methods.

Exercises are frequently used at various stages of the healing process. They can be used to encourage increased movement, strengthen or stabilise certain muscle groups and increase flexibility.

Sometimes we will suggest that additional medication would be helpful and ask you to contact your GP. A note will be provided for you to take to the GP.

Your review will be at the fifth session. If you are making progress but require more treatment this will be discussed and agreed between us. If you are ready for discharge at any point we will make you aware of the Pilates sessions that are available at the Sutton clinic; and the availability of a 1-2-1 session with our colleague, Chartered Physiotherapist, Mrs Kirsty Tarr.

If things are deteriorating (a rare event) then we might make a direct referral to a consultant. We maintain good professional relations with the local orthopaedic consultants.

All Other conditions

Once we have agreed the criteria that will denote progress eg less pain, reduced indigestion, sleeping better, reduced PMT etc then treatment will be focused to that end. After five sessions we’ll review your progress and agree to continue or not. Many patients get marked relief in less than five sessions.

At this point we will begin to look at how you can maintain the improvements by making changes in your lifestyle. This is the most exciting phase because you’ve had a positive response from treatment; now comes the next challenge – how do I maintain the improvements and build on them?
